One of my favorite coffees at Starbucks is the Pumpkin Spice Latte. I look forward to the day it is released in the fall of every year and cry when it goes away. Starbucks took a lot of heat last year when it was revealed that the ingredients were not very healthy, although a lot of what was on social media about the drink was later refuted by Snopes. However, Starbucks is changing the recipe they year by using real pumpkin and eliminating the caramel coloring. Here’s a list of ingredients that will be in the drink this year:
- Espresso
- Milk
- Pumpkin Spice Flavored Sauce (Sugar, Condensed Skim Milk, Pumpkin Puree, Contains 2% or Less of Fruit and Vegetable Juice for Color, Natural Flavors, Annatto (Color), Potassium Sorbate (Preservative), Salt)
- Whipped Cream (Light Whipping Cream [Cream, Mono and Diglycerides, Carrageenan])
- Starbucks Vanilla Syrup (Sugar, Water, Natural Flavors, Potassium Sorbate (Preservative), Citric Acid)
- Pumpkin Spice Topping (Cinnamon, Ginger, Nutmeg, Clove)
The rumor is that this being released on Tuesday, August 25. I will be at Starbucks bright and early on Tuesday to test out the new latte. I will be getting the non-fat, sugar-free vanilla version in order to cut down on the sugar as much as possible.
Report to follow on the new recipe.
