I am been to Knoxville quite a few times since I have family living there. On our last trip, I wanted to try one of the ‘top restaurants’ in Knoxville so I took a look at Trip Advisor and Yelp to see what was listed. There were a variety of restaurants, but we wanted something fairly close to our house and casual so we decided to try Nick and J’s Cafe. When we first pulled up, it looked like an old Waffle House or Huddle House.
When we first pulled up, it looked like an old Waffle House or Huddle House. It was an old school diner with a bar and booths. We took a seat at one of the booths and looked through the menu. They have a variety of items on the lunch menu including salads, burgers, sandwiches, soups and desserts. I was not planning on eating a burger, but when I say Nick & J’s Way burger, I knew I had to order it.

This is one of the best burgers I have ever had! All of the burgers are made from fresh lean ground beef and served on a toasted bun with mayo, lettuce, tomatoes, onions and pickles. Nick & Js Way also has American and Swiss Cheese, Grilled Onions, Bacon and Sautéed Mushrooms. A side of fries comes with the burgers unless otherwise specified. The burger was perfectly cooked, the bacon was crisp and the cheese was melted. The fries were also nice and hot.
One of my dining companions had the homemade chicken sandwich and said it was delicious.

Another dining companion had the chicken sandwich and said it was good as well. I don’t think we had one thing that was not fantastic.

As if the entrees were not enough, we had to order the dessert. We ordered the homemade banana pudding which was good, but the caramel pie really stole the show. It tasted like you were eating the caramel squares right from the bag, it was so smooth and creamy.
